How to extract your DNA at home

This protocol wins high marks from Dr. Me for both its simplicity and its retro cartoon style. To add a bit more excitement, you can do the same thing in parallel with, say, a banana. In both cases you get the same thing out in the end: DNA. Now, why might that be? That is, why might all living organisms use the same cellular building blocks? Might it have something to do with our being descended from a single common ancestor? Hmm, now, isn't that interesting...

Yes, it really is this easy.
